A LAUTECH student by the name Olaniyan Opeyemi Emmanuel is among the 100 youths across the country who were declared winners of 1 million Naira business grant each to develop their businesses. This was done in commemoration of Proffesor Osibajo’ 63rd birthday celebration by friends of the Vice President tagged “8 March Celebration”.
The one time presidential aspirant of LAUTECH Students Union Government popularly known as Flamezy in the university campus came 29th with his business idea for PET-Urban, a business that converts used plastics to raw material.
The application was opened to youths between the age of 18-35. Applicants were asked to write a one-off, one page proposal on how 1 million Naira can improve their business. Other conditions for eligibility includes being a resident of Nigeria as well as running a Nigerian brand.
Out of the total number of 26,200 youths that applied for the grant. 6,000 of did not meet the given deadline while about 16,000 applications were disqualified after the first screening based on a criteria that was decided upon by those in charge.
Only. 4,000 Applicants scaled through to the last stage where external analyst were made to asses the applications from Nigeria and the US.
